New Podcast for High Adventure and 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons

It took 5 editions of Dungeons and Dragons to make me finally do a podcast about playing my favorite game in the world. I’ve been gaming for over 30 years and podcasting for 9. It seems logical that the two would eventually be blended together.

I’ve been taking over the Dungeon Master duties for the past couple years and so my game has tightened up and opened into a whole new realm of creativity. My current tabletop group started our campaign in 2nd edition since we didn’t really enjoy 4th or 3rd edition as we did the edition that let us enjoy high adventure in our early adult years. Second edition was comfortable, easy to use. It had its quirks sure, but it didn’t stray too far off the path.

When news of the new edition came out we were all skeptical, but hopeful. Our Thief Sable (Katie) and a couple others did download the beta rules and were part of the play test that went on before the release. We were even more hopeful.

When 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons was released, we couldn’t wait to get the books. The free downloadable rules were exciting and the new revamp of the game we loved seemed like a winner.  As soon as we got together again with the shiny new books we were excited about the artwork, gameplay, new rules, lack of filler, and ease of use these tomes offered.

The players quickly switched over their characters and found that doing so opened up entire new aspects to the characters. The options in character creation allowed them to fully realize the potential of the classes they wanted.

So of course I had to create a podcast about it.

I am hoping this show offers entertaining insight, helpful tips, and inspires high adventure in our listeners. I have big plans for the podcast that will also make it interactive for the listeners. I’ll be inviting audience members to send in clips to play on the show, reviews, join in as a panel guest, and the chance to win prizes with every show. We’re going to also have a video channel and this blog to offer even more content on our favorite game. New product reviews, game strategies, and an in depth look at these new rules.

It sounds like a worthy adventure to me. Will you join our party of brave adventurers?
